Demi Vollering (FDJ United-Suez) won the 5th stage of the 2026 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, jumping to the 2nd place in the overall standings and taking the Combativity prize.
“Today’s victory has been very cool because every single rider in my team has played a part in it. Those are the wins that I value the most: the ones where everybody contributes with their hard work, meaning that we win together. The way I managed to win that sprint has also been beautiful. I thought I wasn’t going to make it, but I did - and it has been a big relief.”
“I knew Kasia [Niewiadoma-Phinney] would go early, because she always does, and I knew Marlen [Reusser] would gamble, so I let her gamble to make her work - yet she didn’t. So I just had to try my best, because otherwise Kasia would win unopposed. I gave my 100% to the line and needed every single metre in the final straight, but I managed to pull it off. I’m very happy with this win.”
“Marlen Reusser looks bright for now. The only good thing is that I have already won the Tour, and Kasia too - Marlen is the only one who hasn’t won the Tour yet, so she is the one who has to work harder. I am sure it’s going to be a tough battle, because Marlen isn’t easy to beat. But I’ll try my best to do it!”
