To reach Montreux, the riders will pass through the Vaudois vineyards, which will take a toll, heading in the opposite direction to the previous day in order to bypass Lausanne. A series of short climbs will then punctuate the stage, firstly at its mid-point (2km at 6%), then about 50 kilometres from the finish (2.3km at 6.5%) and, finally, with back-to-back ascents that will really test the legs near Begnins. However, this almost certainly won’t be enough to prevent the peloton regrouping in the finale for a bunch sprint on Quai du Mont-Blanc.
