2025 Edition
The history
Unique in the world of cycling, the Australian women's team is not simply an addition to an existing structure. It was created alongside a men's team, giving rise to a two-part entity financed by businessman Gerry Ryan and quickly bolstered by sponsorship from chemical group Orica. Led by world time trial champion Judith Arndt, it finished world number three in its maiden season (2012). Then it dominated the following season, taking first place in both the team and individual classifications, thanks to Sweden's Emma Johansson.
In 2017 and 2018, Annemiek van Vleuten finished two seasons as world number one. During her six seasons with the team (2016-2020), the Dutch rider won three world titles, two Giro d'Italias, Olympic gold, and the Course by le Tour de France twice. She conquered the Izoard and the Marseille time trial in the only edition contested in two stages (2017), then defeated Anna van der Breggen at Le Grand-Bornand after an epic duel on both sides of the Colombière (2018).
Van Vleuten changed teams in 2021 (to Movistar), symbolising a squad that has undergone significant changes in recent seasons. It now boasts Mavi Garcia (10th in the 2022 Tour), Letizia Paternoster (5th in the Trofeo Alfredo Binda) and the revelation of the early season, Monica Trinca Colonel (4th in the UAE Tour, 7th in the Vuelta a España Femenina by Carrefour.es, 8th in Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes).
