Demi Vollering (FDJ United-Suez) took the overall lead of the 2026 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift after winning Stage 8.
“We just needed to do it. In a stage race, you live day by day. You may be disappointed at night, but the next morning you have to wake up with new energy and have a go again. You make a plan with the team and go all the way. It’s funny but only this morning I had a déjà-vu during the meeting from a recon I did in January, and I saw myself taking the Yellow Jersey. It didn’t make sense in my eyes, so I forgot about it. It was weird. Then this morning the déjà-vu came to me and I thought it might come true, that maybe that’s the way things should be. During the day, I tried to remind myself I could do it, that we could do it. That we should at least try, and dig deep. I was in so much pain… I can hardly describe it, but I made it happen. This goes to prove that if you really believe in something, if you dream big, it doesn’t matter how much risk you take, or how much pain you have to go through… You will make it happen. You just need the right people around you.”
“Tomorrow’s course is going to be super hard. We know it from the beginning of the Tour. Anything can happen, but anyway I’m in Yellow going into this final day after winning two stages. That’s already super special and we are going to try everything to keep this Yellow Jersey tomorrow. I believe my team already proved it today.”
