Clermont-Ferrand, the city that produced Olympic champions Renaud Lavillenie (pole vault) and Gabriella Papadakis (ice dancing) has teams that play at the highest national level in men’s rugby (ASM Clermont Auvergne) and women’s rugby (ASM Romagnat), in football (Clermont Foot 63) and in women’s volleyball (Panthères de Chamalières). The home city of Rémi Cavagna, who emerged with the VC Cournon-d’Auvergne, also boasts several bike racing clubs as well as those focused on everyday cycling and is engaged in a programme designed to develop cycle paths that will cover the whole municipality by 2028.
