2025 Edition
The history
While the roots of the Movistar men's team go back some 40 years, its women's team is only in its eighth season. It joined the WorldTour circuit in 2020 and stepped up a gear the following year with the unexpected signing of Annemiek van Vleuten. The Dutch rider finished 2021 ranked world number one, as she had in 2017 and 2018. In 2022, she won the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift and secured a fourth world title.
Crowned Olympic time trial champion in Tokyo, the Dutch rider retired at the end of 2023. However, the next generation was already emerging, with Liane Lippert and Emma Norsgaard winning the second and sixth stages of the 2023 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, which Van Vleuten ultimately finished in fourth place overall. Arriving from SD Worx-Protime, Marlen Reusser is the new centrepiece of the Spanish team. The Swiss rider, winner of stage 4 in 2022 and the time trial in Pau in 2024, showed this spring that she is a contender for the Yellow Jersey, finishing second in the Vuelta before dominating the Vuelta a Burgos.
