The history
The Euskadi Foundation lies at the roots of the Euskaltel–Euskadi team, which enlivened the Tour in the 2000s with the exploits of its Basque climbers, the fervour of its supporters (the famous "orange tide") and the stage victories of Iban Mayo and Roberto Laiseka. Since 2020, it has also been supporting a women's team—alongside Laboral Kutxa, a credit cooperative—that competed in its first Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in 2024.
After two seasons as the totem rider of the Basque squad, Ane Santesteban (eighth overall in 2023 with Jayco–AlUla), retired and took over a new role as team representative, passing on the torch to Usoa Ostolaza. The Spanish climber has moved up to a whole new level in 2026, clinching fourth place in La Vuelta Femenina by Carrefour.es. The new leader of the Basque team presides over a miniature United Nations that has been reaching unprecedented heights with the Chilean Catalina Soto, the Colombian Paula Patiño and the Ukrainian Yuliia Biriukova.

6. After securing five national titles (the first of which came at the tender age of 20 in 2022), the Chilean Catalina Soto bagged Panamerican gold in March. Six of her eight professional victories have been in championships.
