Comprising 2,800 metres of vertical gain, this run across Yorkshire has the feel of Liège-Bastogne-Liège. There are numerous climbs and they’ll trigger the first major contest for the polka-dot jersey, while the punchy riders in the bunch will be determined to challenge for the day’s honours and the overall contenders will need to stay alert. During the finale of the 2014 Tour de France stage, which featured these same three climbs, eventual race winner Vincenzo Nibali broke away to take victory and the yellow jersey.
