The Tour Féminin finished at the top of the Tourmalet on three occasions: in 1994 and 2000, two Lithuanians, Jolanta Polikeviciute and Edita Pucinskaite, respectively, were the first across the line. In 1996, Fabiana Luperini beat Jeannie Longo there. The Tour de France has also had three stage finishes there, resulting in successes for Jean-Pierre Danguillaume (1974), Andy Schleck (2010) and, in 2019, Thibaut Pinot’s victory ahead of Yellow Jersey Julian Alaphilippe in. On 29 July, the first “2,000m plus” finish for this recently established race will likely decide the identity of the overall winner.
