Austria’s 2021 Olympic road race champion Anna Kiesenhofer won a stage of the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l’Ardèche at the summit of Mont Ventoux in 2016. Her name sits alongside a superb list of Tour de France winners who also triumphed there prior to Valentin Paret-Peintre’s feat last summer – Charly Gaul, Raymond Poulidor, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Thévenet, Jean-Franiois Bernard, Marco Pantani, Richard Virenque and Chris Froome. Like the mountain, all were truly exceptional!
