Le Grand-Bornand, the village from which two-time world champion Tessa Worley emerged to become a giant of skiing, has hosted the start of three Tour de France stages, each of them heading for the high mountains and a summit finish: the first to La Plagne in 1995, then to Sestrières in 1999 and to Tignes in 2007. This Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will follow this pattern, tackling the very tough Col du Glandon on the road towards Alpe d’Huez. The list of those who have led over this pass is impressive and includes Louison Bobet, Fausto Coppi, Lucien Van Impe, Thierry Claveyrolat, Richard Virenque and, more recently, Romain Bardet.
