Mountain resort in the Vosges massif in Haut-Rhin (67)
Located in the commune of Oderen
Population: 1,300 (Oderinois and Oderinoises), 12,700 within the 15 communes comprising the Vallée de Saint-Amarin municipality
The first resort in the Vosges to be equipped with a ski lift (1947) and the only one to have hosted the Alpine Skiing World Cup (including two victories by the Swede Ingemar Stenmark, who was a star of the pistes in the 1980s), it has featured several times on the Tour route. These visits were the result of its altitude (between 1,040m and 1,265m), its central position on the Route des Crêtes and its proximity to the Grand Ballon, the highest point of which lies at 1,424m. This will be the first time that a prestigious stage victory has been on offer here.
